How does hardwood compare to other flooring materials?

Hardwood will outperform and outlast any other flooring material without any additional care or attention. And, of course, nothing can compare to the elegant beauty of a Boardwalk hardwood floor.

Is hardwood expensive?

The price of hardwood floors can vary depending on what type and material grade you select. Since most hardwood floors last a lifetime, there is no question about their value.

It’s lasting beauty will be enjoyed by you for many years to come and the impact on future owners will be similar. In general, hardwood adds three times the purchase price of your new hardwood floor to the value of your home.

Are hardwood floors easy to care for?

Yes, a hardwood floor is just as simple to care for as any other floor covering. Unlike hardwood flooring of the past, no waxing or stripping is required. Dusting or vacuuming is usually all that is required. Your Boardwalk Flooring specialist is happy to review proper care for your specific floor after installation is complete.

Where can I have a hardwood floor?

Hardwood flooring can be installed almost anywhere in your home. Solid wood, such as site-finished and prefinished flooring, can be installed on or above ground while engineered and laminate flooring can be installed anywhere including basements. It is not recommended to install hardwood flooring in moisture prone areas of your home, such as the wet areas of a bathroom.

Why consider prefinished flooring?

Prefinished flooring is much simpler to install and requires no on-site sanding. The installers simply glue or staple the tongue-and-groove pieces to the floor. Innovative products, like Bruce Natural Reflections square edged flooring, and longer finish warranties are increasing the appeal of prefinished flooring.

Prefinished hardwood is recommended for all areas except those exposed to high concentrations of moisture like bathrooms and basements. Prefinished hardwood floors most be installed of proper industry standard sub-floors and must be installed above grade.

Why choose Laminate flooring?

Laminate is on average 6 times harder to dent and is many times more wear resistant than your average hardwood. It’s a practical, economical alternative to hardwood flooring while still adding the warmth, value and beauty to your home. All our laminate floors carry 15 or 25 year warranties against stains, fading, discoloration, and wear.
